its not that people/bands being signed to major labels make me sad, it would if i looked and saw that they set the standards so high or made my talents look pale, its that being signed, most of the time, is no longer a symbol of talent, but of dumb luck and timing and under the table deals and fortuitous marriages and deaths and other financial wonders. to be "signed" seems to be a symbol of worthiness to many people, when really its not much of a symbol at all. some do the "signed" thing proud, but the majority make it a joke and become symbols of what is wrong with it, they disentegrate- and not for art's sake, the industry becomes a junkyard of high-priced goods- truly sad, because making music is one of the most amazing things a human can do.
