~ mechanical trees ~
girls perched like birds in its branches
nests of paper
lights flicker in the shiny leaves
iron hawks
viral infected driven
flew in a flash of light
brought a season
and i saw
mechanical trees in autumn
but these were two evergreen machines
but now they glow they mark the land
they fall
the earth says
a shake
a wall of water
a whirling dervish of air?
not this time mother
the girls the birds -the fevered hawks
were our species
infected and altered the seasons
without saying
the nests the nests the birds the girls.
now
there is a grove
there is I can see it
two mechanical trees
now no
shake
no wall of water
no dervish can whirl away
iron infections a distant land
no longer two machine evergreens
but an eternal forest above
and girls laughing
along the water
and high in the branches
