morbid question number two..
this is real.
this ebay auction already went down and this bear was sold for $400*.
what would you have done, if this item had been given to you, or you had found it? would you have sold it like this person did? would you have burned it, buried it, stripped it of its insignia and used it for a display item, donated it to a museum? i know the id's of major museums on ebay and none of them bid on this bear- but they may not have known it was up for auction. people i know who saw this hoped it would not sell at all. i personally wonder why anyone would want this bear- to pay for it and make money on it for the seller. i personally don't know why the seller chose to sell it, to make money on it. who knows maybe they are going to donate the money, maybe the purchaser will display it as something from a time of intense evil we can never forget. the white dot on the jpeg covers a swastika, the buttons also have swastikas. what would you have done if this bear had been handed to you?
its seller says: **ABSOLUTE RARITY.ORIGINAL WORLD WAR 2 TEDDY BEAR FROM A GERMAN THIRD REICH LEBENSBORN HOME 30th - 40th YEARS.THE LEBENSBORN WAS ONE OF THE BIGGEST SECRETS OF THE GERMAN THIRD REICH.IN THIS HOMES CHILDREN OF THE ELITE SOLDIERS WERE BORN AND DRAWED AS THE ELITE OF THE GERMAN RACE TO HEINRICH HIMMLERS IDEAL OF THE THIRD REICH.THIS TEDDY BELONGED ONE OF THIS CHILDREN.I THINK THIS TEDDY WAS AWARDED AS THE FIRST PRICE ON A SPORTS EVENT TO ONE OF THIS CHILDREN.THIS TEDDY IS 14 1/2 INCHES HIGH AND FILLED WITH STRAW.ARMS,LEGS AND HEAD ARE MOVABLE.ON HIS PAW ARE THE LETTERS "LEBENSBORN" PRINTED.THE TEDDY WEARS A SCARF WITH THE PRINT "SIEGER AND THE SYMBOL OF THE THIRD REICH".ON HIS BREAST ARE TWO GOLDEN UNIFORM BUTTONS WITH THE SAME SYMPOL AND THE REICHSEAGLE SEWED UP.THE RIGHT LEG AND THE RIGHT PAW ARE DAMAGED.THIS TEDDY WAS LOVED MUCH BY HIS OWNER AND IS HARDLY PLAYED.THIS SHOULD BE ONE OF THE RAREST TEDDY BEARS AND ON A VERY RARE PIECE OF THE GERMAN HISTORY.I NEVER HAVE SEEN SUCH A TEDDY BEFORE AND IT COULD BE THE LAST EXISTING SPECIMEN**
we already know what happened to millions of innocent people during this horrific time in history. many don't know the pain and torture the surviving lebensborn children endured after the war. they were afterall innocent children. this thing that is in the form of a once cuddly teddy bear, a toy, carries with it so many images of hatred and pain. imagine its now yours- what would you do?
you can answer the question in the survey here..(*the link to the ebay auction will not be up for a long time so if its dead now, the bear was sold to someone i know of in canada (not personally as a friend, but they have never done anything strange or hateful), for $400 USD. the buyer collects mainly older and antique photos of children holding or playing with teddy bears, some from victorian times- and have sometimes paid 100's for these pictures, so money is not an issue with them... i don't know what their reason was for buying this). **Edit: this article was called to my attention by fellow collectors many of those pictures mentioned are from her collection (the purchaser of the bear). i've seen some of them. they are not all openly "nazi" but the time and places of them place them in that period of history. this makes some of it make some sense i suppose
